Immigrants = Humans
Many migrant detention centers are unsanitary and dangerously overcrowded. Adults have to stand for days due to there being no sufficient space while some kids sleep on concrete. No access to soap, toothpaste, or places to wash hands or shower. There has been a report of there being 900 people in a space of capacity of 125 people. Many outbreaks of diseases like flu, lice, etc.
Babies have to drink from unwashed bottles and there are not enough diapers. They are in extremely cold temperatures while lights are on all day every day. They make no effort trying to separate the sick kids from the healthy. Immigrants are forced to sleep in cold metal cages and in wet clothing. They're also laughed at when they cry.
There have been multiple situations in which ICE doesn't have any warrants yet, they barge into people's houses to forcefully take immigrants into custody. Without a warrant, they have no right and it's illegal of them to step into someone's house. There are also instances in where ICE will be outside of homes or stores to try to capture immigrants. They even show up to their workplaces. ICE is getting innocent, hard-working parents/children and separating them from their families without them having done anything wrong nor illegal. This is a cruel thing to do to families. Many of them migrated because of the dangerous and bad things that happen in their country. As well as being able to have more opportunities in the United States, and wishing for a better future for their kids.
There was a report of baby being really sick but the detention just sent the family back to their room and made no effort to provide the 19 month baby with the care it needed. Eventually, the staff treated the baby with Vicks VapoRub, this is not recommended for kids under 2. They treated a little baby with something really harmful which wouldn't even help them improve their health. Around 10 days later, the mother and baby were released from the ICE detention center, and was trying to get medical care. The baby was hospitalized for six weeks, diagnosed with a viral respiratory infection and placed on a ventilator. The baby died on Mother's day in Guatemala, she is suing the goverment with $60 million for failing to provide them with appropriate medical care.
"We slept on mats on the floor and gave us aluminum blankets. They took our baby's diapers, baby formula, and all of our belongings. Our clothes were still wet and we were very cold, so we got sick... I've been in the US for six days and I have never been offered a shower or been able to brush my teeth. There is no soap and our clothes are dirty. They have never been washed." - 16 year old girl"We are in a metal cage with 20 other teenagers with babies and young children. We have one mat we need to share with each other. It is very cold. We each got a mylar blanket, but it is not enough to warm up. There are benches but we cannot sleep there. Sometimes it is so crowded we cannot find a place to sleep, so they allow a few of us to sleep outside the fenced area. The lights are on all of the time." - 16 year old girl
